Beyond presentations and discussions, Sunway University offered us a chance to experience how academic learning is brought to life through practical, hands-on engagement,  a reflection of its commitment to immersive education.

As part of the Media Day programme, we participated in two insightful sessions:

• Blind Coffee Tasting Session led by Associate Professor Dr. Daniel Chong from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. This unique experience highlighted how Sunway’s hospitality students develop their sensory and service skills through real-world training.

• Batik Painting Workshop conducted by Dr. Fiona Wong from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This activity gave us a glimpse into how students explore creativity and cultural appreciation within the university’s arts programmes.

These sessions demonstrated how Sunway blends academic theory with practical application, creating a learning environment where students gain both knowledge and industry-relevant skills.

The day concluded with a specially curated lunch by Professor Patrick Siau, set at the Rooftop Terrace and accompanied by a live performance from the Sunway University Ensemble quartet, an example of the university’s commitment to excellence in both hospitality and the arts.
