The Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture (By Research) program at Lincoln University College is a research-intensive program designed to foster independent and creative thinking in agricultural education. This thesis-based program empowers students to delve deep into their chosen field of agriculture, gaining advanced knowledge and expertise while conducting original, high-quality research.

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to explore innovative ideas and contribute to the advancement of agricultural knowledge. They will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of audiences, from worldwide researchers to local farmers, through their research findings.

To successfully complete the PhD program, candidates are required to publish a minimum of four research articles in Scopus indexed journals, with affiliation to Lincoln University College. This requirement reflects the program's emphasis on scholarly excellence and the dissemination of impactful research in the field of agriculture.

Entry Requirements

 i.  A Master’s Degree (Level 7, Malaysian Qualifications Framework MOQF} in the Agriculture field or related fields accepted by the Higher Education Provider (HEP) Senate; or

             ii.  Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) recognized by the Government of Malaysia; or

             iii. Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or with working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the HEP; or

             iv. Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) candidates who are registered for Master’s Degree programmes may apply to convert to the Doctoral Degree programs subjected to the following conditions;

                        a) Within one year for full-time and within two years for part-time candidates;

                        b) Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at the Doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP; and

                        c) Approval of the HEP Senate.

                        d) At least one research paper needs to be published in a refereed journal.

              v.   For International students, a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 OR an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 OR its equivalent is needed. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPs must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the program. This is normally conducted through an assessment process.
